Therapy for Children

and Young People

Just like my other services (Individual and Relational Couples Therapy) I hold a humanistic and integrative approach with all my work, placing emphasis on a relational way of working, placing less emphasis on technique or advice. Some of my key Children’s and Young Person’s Counsellor (CYP) competences include sustained empathic relating, openness, receptiveness and maintaining a fundamentally accepting stance. I have experiences of working with ages 10+.

As a CYP humanistic and integrative therapist, I also offer creative processing interventions which support and validate immediate client experiences, facilitating the integrity of the Self and a sense of personal authenticity. My unique approach is to encourage self-awareness, including awareness of experience itself, of our emotional reactions, and the experience of interactions with others.

My CYP counsellor's role is to help children and young people extend and further develop their awareness of their subjective world and support their natural striving toward self-awareness, self-acceptance and their personal needs, choices and responsibilities (where age-appropriate). I have over 23 years’ experience in education, I am a fully qualified Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary School Teacher. One of my strengths and passions is creating safe, emotionally meaningful and impactful relationships with the children I taught and the CYP in my private practice.

I am fully DBS checked, with an established experience skill set with Child-Protection and Safeguarding.
